If you are auditioning for one of the ‘special guests’ bring something to show us what you’ve got. \n\n\n\nAbout the Show\n\n\n\nOn Air is a festive 1940s comedy and variety Christmas radio show. We are bringing the golden age of radio back to life through a delightful mix of music and comedy. Audiences will enjoy a nostalgic journey through time\, gaining a charming glimpse into the lives and humorous interactions of the station’s employees as they broadcast live. \n\n\n\nShow dates \n\n\n\n\nFriday\, 20th November\n\n\n\nSaturday\, 21st November\n\n\n\nSunday\, 22nd November (matinee)\n\n\n\nFriday\, 27th November\n\n\n\nSaturday\, 28th November\n\n\n\nSunday\, 29th November (matinee)\n\n\n\n\nWho We Are Looking For\n\n\n\nSingers\, Crooners & Character Voice Actors\n\n\n\nWe’re seeking strong vocal performers who can deliver classic 1940s radio-style comedy\, timing\, and musicality. We’re looking for back-up singers and crooners who can deliver the rich\, characterful 1940s vocal style\, and confidently shift into comedic or character voices for ensemble scenes.  \n\n\n\nWe welcome performers of all ages! While we don’t focus on physical appearance\, we are looking for that authentic 1940s sound. Cast members will perform in trios\, quintets\, and full-choir numbers\, while also bringing a variety of lively radio characters to life throughout the production. \n\n\n\nFeatured Characters\n\n\n\n\nGeorge & Gracie: Our wonderfully chaotic lead couple.\n\n\n\nAnnouncer — the voice of the station\n\n\n\nBill & Susan — neighbours and co-workers\n\n\n\nMailman — with an infamously evil wife\n\n\n\n“Gee whiz\, Mister!” — the boy from across the street\n\n\n\nShopkeepers & Neighbours — colourful community voices\n\n\n\nLive Sound Effects Performer – A dedicated on-stage Foley artist creating sound effects throughout the entire show.\n\n\n\n\nSpecial Guest Appearances \n\n\n\n\nHollywood Crooners (male & female) Think Frank Sinatra\, Bing Crosby\, Judy Garland\, Ella Fitzgerald\, Louis Armstrong — show us what ya got.\n\n\n\nBritish Celebrities of the Era Think David Niven\, Vivien Leigh — crisp\, elegant\, unmistakably 1940s.\n\n\n\n\nRehearsals\n\n\n\nThe final rehearsal schedule is being finalised\, however\, rehearsals will take place on Monday nights\, Tuesday nights and Sunday afternoons at Torbay Gate Theatre \n\n\n\nAny questions? Get in touch with Sarah on  sarah.munnik@gmail.com
