DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy a variety of short items of all kinds! And/or provide one yourself! Club Night is our members entertaining each other\, with quality (lightly) rehearsed acts of all kinds in a fun atmosphere. A typical Club Night (there is no typical Club Night!) might include teenagers doing Monty Python\, professional opera singers\, an extract from a play\, a poem\, tasters from our current musical\, Irish jig\, teen guitarist\, tap dancers\, wartime songs\, comic monologues\, stand-up\, and Torbay Theatre Choir. The only rule is: ten minutes maximum. A very good way to see some of what we do\, talk to us and feel the happy vibe. SUMMARY:Platinum Jubilee Extravaganza
DESCRIPTION:1952 was a busy year.  As the young Queen Elizabeth II was being crowned in London\, twelve thousand miles away in Torbay\, New Zealand\, a keen group of thespians and dramaphiles were getting together to form the Torbay Dramatic Society (aka Torbay Theatre).  Now\, sadly\, our Gracious Queen is no more\, but Torbay Theatre goes on from strength to strength. \n\n\n\nOn Saturday 29 October\, our Torbay Theatre whānau will be celebrating 70 years of community theatre in Torbay with a special event to be held in the Torbay Community Hall.  Our teams are working right now to put together an evening’s entertainment comprising samples of some of the plays\, musicals\, and variety shows that have been presented in each of the last seven decades. \n\n\n\nThis will be an entertaining evening for all\, with audience seated at tables\, and plenty of opportunity to mingle between acts. We hope to attract many members from days gone by\, as well as our usual mix of roughly age 8-88 currently involved\, so reminiscence will be a-plenty!  \n\n\n\nThis is a one-off event and spaces will be limited\, so be sure to reserve yours. Supper will be served\, and drinks are BYO. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you there! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease indicate in the notes if one of your party will be in a wheelchair or has any other mobility issues.
